Philosphy, true or false???

Okay I know that Philosophy is just a way of looking at the world with a view to working out the mysteries which is all very well but why haven't we any new age ohilosophers?? the greeks were the first and then the germans but in recent years the philosophers have all disappeared
And what happens when we work everything out? Will we have nothing left to strive for and if so what will it be and will there be any substance to it or will it be one of the materialistic things our world is riddled with?

Recent philosophy has been dominated by existentialist who believe the wolrd is meaningless except for the here and the now, the post structuralist who believe we are ruled by systems which have to be overthrown and the post modernists who think we have said and done everything already so why bother?
Read Satre, Derrida and Foucaullt for more information. The best one thing to read is probably Sophies World which gives you a good overview of all the philosophers. My favorite is Nietzsche who contary to what a lot of people think was not a Nazi. his book Thus Spake Zarathustra is a great starting point as he writes in aphrorisms.
